Geary Lane Jazz Series

Toronto’s newest hub for culture and creativity, Geary Lane, showcases some of the top established and emerging musicians on the Canadian jazz scene in a new concert series. Supported by the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, each Geary Lane Jazz Series concert brings a different flavour of jazz to the stage; each performance will also feature an interactive component, giving both artists and audiences a unique and authentic musical experience. Montuno Police formed in 1987. They have released 3 CD’s: Touch, The Call (Live with special guest Randy Becker), and Nomads. They have played Toronto, Montreal and Halifax Jazz Festivals, London Sun Fest, Beaches Jazz Fest and have played at all the Toronto Jazz Venues. Montuno Police has been on hiatus from 2013 as members busy with other projects.

Montuno Police was nominated in 1995 for Juno andMark Jelso was nominated in 2016 for Juno for his Jazz Exiles project.
Rick Lazar was voted Percussionist of the Year five times by Jazz Report magazine.
